Vienna: From 18 to 21 June 2018 the United Nations commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the 1968 UN Conference on the Exploration and Peaceful Uses of Outer Space. During „UNISPACE+50“ international experts explore the future course of global space cooperation. The Federal Government Coordinator of German Aerospace Policy heads the German Delegation.


In the margins of the Symposium a Memorandum of Understanding was signed by UNOOSA Director Simonetta Di Pippo and Pascale Ehrenfreund and Walther Pelzer from DLR to strengthen the good cooperation between UNOOSA and DLR.

A second Memorandum of Understanding was signed by UNOOSA Director Di Pippo and Airbus Senior Vice President Johannes von Thadden. Airbus will provide UNOOSA with an external device at the International Space Station ISS for scientific purposes at no cost to UNOOSA.

A German exhibition is shown during UNISPACE+50 in the Rotunda of the Vienna International Centre. The exhibition space with 40 participants is open to the public on 23 June between 9 and 12.30 h.
