Vienna, 29 April 2019: Former Ambassador Friedrich Däuble and South African Ambassador Tebogo Seokolo were honored by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) as 'Best Friends of ReNuAL' for their services to the ReNuAL project. As co-chair of the Friends of ReNuAL, they both supported the renovation of the IAEA laboratories in Seibersdorf near Vienna with great personal commitment. Since 2014 Germany has provided more than five million euros as voluntary contributions for the financing of the project. The laboratories are world leaders in nuclear research for civil purposes - especially in the fields of environment, agriculture, food, plant protection, disease control and health, above all in cancer research. All member countries of the IAEA benefit from this, but particularly emerging and developing countries. The laboratories also provide further education and training (capacity building) in these special fields. In recent decades, more than 2,500 scientists and technicians from more than 120 countries have been trained within this framework. Both ambassadors praised the project as an important humanitarian research project for the sustainable development of all member states.
