Press release

Vienna, 29 November 2018: The German Head of Delegation at the Ministerial Conference, Frank Heidrich, confirmed Germany's strong support for the renovation of the IAEA Research Laboratories in Seibersdorf (ReNuAL and ReNuAL+ projects) as an important contribution in the field of civil nuclear applications. He announced that Germany would make available further voluntary contributions of 385,000 Euro to improve the energy efficiency of buildings and thus contribute to sustainability. The construction of the new buildings has largely been completed. In order to be able to start operating the new laboratories, the interior fittings must be completed and fully equipped. They offer more space and better conditions for IAEA research. Frank Heidrich thanked all donors who have contributed financially to the project thus far as well as those who have pledged their continued support. To date, Germany has supported the laboratories in Seibersdorf and the Peaceful Uses Initiative (PUI) with a total amount of 11 million Euro.
